Trish Summerville, who? Well, that’s a name you’re about to Google and oogle, right about now. But just for the heads up, the much applauded costume designer who worked on the English version of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, is making quite the headlines with her stupendous collaboration with the Swedish high-street clothing brand, H&M. The 30-pieces collection pays tribute to the goth-punk rebel character in the movie, Lisbeth Salander (played by breakout American actress Rooney Mara), and her dark urban iconic style fix of leather, battered jeans, slouchy hoodies and might I add – the mysterious anti-social computer hacker’s signature style of pre-worn leather boots and towering platform wedges.

“Salander’s look is very real and very lived in, with pieces that her character has worn for a long time, like her jackets that act as her armour to shield her from the world. I wanted the collection to have the essence and strength of Salander, with a fashion edge, and I’m pleased with the result! My goal is for women to find pieces in it that they love and then mix them with their own wardrobe to create their own personal style,” says Trish Summerville.
The collection will first debut exclusively at the boutique Colette in Paris on November 28, before going on sale at the 180 H&M stores worldwide and online on December 14. The collection consists of what every rebel in us wants – leather jackets and skinny denim, along with t-shirts that bare a splash of colour with a hand-painted flag or scrolled lettering, and slouchy hoodies all in industrial shades of black, grey, worn white or dark red and accessories ranging from tribal earrings to knitted snoods and backpacks. And even if you’re not totally clad in tattoos, each and every piece from the line that swells an urban-cool and edgy attitude that even Salander herself would pay for.
